John Qi was elected as the president of the Georges River Association in May 2023. 

In the year 2000, the year that the Olympic Games were held in Sydney, John Qi came to Australia to obtain his MBA degree at UTS. Following graduation, he worked as an accountant in an international company and in 2005 he started a small family business.

Mr. Qi came into contact with Ben Wang and the Georges River Association and was moved by Mr. Wang's political views. Mr. Qi participated voluntarily in Ben's election campaign. Meanwhile, he joined the Georges River Association to use his skills to help the residents in the southeastern districts. He is involved in several community activities as a member of the Georges River Association, including the Food competition and the Clean Australian Day, and he has successfully organised a couple of charity events with Hurstville Salvation Army for the Red Shield Appeal fundraising. Mr. Qi also organises light volleyball training and competitions. 

John Qi was elected as the vice president of the Georges River Association in January 2022, then the president of the Georges River Association between July 2022 to December 2022. His wife, Ruiqun Li, who worked in the family business, is a strong backer who fully supports John's participation in the Association and as a member of the NSW SES. His daughter works as a PhD student in Microbiological Sciences at UNSW University with a full scholarship.

Ben Wang is the funding president of the Georges River Association，and councillor of Hurstville ward in Georges River Council. Ben has loved Australia ever since he migrated here with his wife and son in 1997 as a skilled migrant, and settled in Hurstville in 1998. He has been working as an IT professional for the past 30 years and is now a team leader in a prominent Australian bank. Ben has Computer Science Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees, is fluent in English and Mandarin, and understands Cantonese.

Ben loves both Chinese and Western culture and is a Tai Chi enthusiast. He promotes both Australian values and Chinese traditional virtues, and places great value on family and education. Ben has a small happy family, including his wife who was a university classmate and now a company senior manager. His son studied at Hurstville Public School (HPS) and is now a practising doctor. Ben is a vegetarian, and advocates healthy eating, environment protection and animal welfare to make the world a better place.

Ben Wang is very grateful for Australia’s free and democratic way of life. For years, he has been devoted to community services and charity activities. He has been honored by The Salvation Army Australia with the "Salvos Multicultural Ambassador". He also successfully led several well-known campaigns to object to the building of unreasonable public places of worship in the residential area.
