The fifth Hurstville Night Market will be held at Hurstville Plaza on Saturday, May 10, 2025 from 3 pm to 9 pm and the Seventh Hurstville Night Market will be held at Hurstville Plaza on Saturday, July 19, 2025 from 3 pm to 9 pm.

Stall owners who are interested in participating in the 6th Hurstville Night Market please email dragoneightevents@gmail.com to apply.

If you have never filled out a stall application form, please fill it out now below.

All stalls need to fill out a stall application form and company public liability insurance. Food stalls need FSS and TFP. If you have not yet sent the relevant documents to dragoneightevents@gmail.com, please send them now. If your documents are still pending, please indicate this in the email.

The George River Association strives to hold a night market every month. The subsequent date is planned to be the second Saturday night of each month starting from August. After the date is confirmed, we will announce it on this website and send a email to the stall owners who has applied with us.

For navigation, please enter 1 Crofts Ave, Hurstville NSW 2220. Enter the site from the booth near C1 in the map above. Vehicles can drive straight into the Hurstville Plaza. When exiting, vehicles also exit from the same place.

Hurstville Night Market Detailed Plan

This event is based on Motion NM036-24, proposed by Councillor Ben Wang and passed by the Georges River Council, aiming to establish night markets in Hurstville to boost the local economy.

The night market is hosted by the George River Association and co-organized by well-known local businesses such as Taste of Shende, and Café De Haus.

Event Details

Time: 3:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Location: Hurstville Plaza
Stall Size: 3M X 3M. We don’t accept food trucks or vans.
The night market starts at 3 PM and the performance begins at 2 PM. The earliest entry time is 11:30 am. Vehicles must leave the plaza by 2 PM. Stalls must be set up by 3:00 PM. The exit time is from 9:00 PM to 11:00 PM. Please enter according to the scheduled entry time to avoid inconvenience to management and other stall owners. Failure to enter at the agreed time may result in fines. If you exceed the agreed time by more than 15 minutes, you will be fined 5 AUD for every 5 minutes, up to a maximum of 50 AUD.
Requirements for Food Stalls: Must use gas or self-provided generator.
Stallholders shall bring own tent, LED lighting （The brighter the LED lighting, the better. Here is a sample one）, a minimum 25-meter power cord, and a switch power board. Stall owners are required to prepare 4 sandbags / weights, and ropes to stabilize the tent.
Food stalls are requested to bring their own 3m x 3m floor mats to prevent food grease from dirtying the floor. Stall rubbish must be taken away. Please contact us if you need help.
The organizer will provide one power outlet per stall. Stallholders with equipment above 1 kilowatt or needing additional outlets must notify in advance to avoid power outages due to high-power appliances. Please list the power requirements for each equipment.

Stall Categories and Pricing

Hurstville plaza can be configured to hold around 31 stalls.

Standard Stall: 188 AUD
- The stalls will be allocated by the organiser, and stall locations are not fixed and will be notified upon entry on the day. If you decide to pay more to choose a location in advance, please inform us of your stall choices after payment.
Silver Stall: 288 AUD
- As a Silver Stall Owner, the stall owner can select stall locations other than Gold Stalls in advance.
Gold Stall: 488 AUD
- The stall owner can select stall in advance and be the first one to select, and also have the opportunity to speak on stage for two minutes. There is only one Gold Stall in the night market.
- Logo featured on all promotional materials and posters.

Equipment rent fee

Stall owners shall bring their own tents (,here is a tent for reference) and walls (, here is a wall for reference). If they need us to provide tent and walls, the rental fee is 50AUD for food stalls and 30AUD for non-food stalls, 20 AUD for a table and a stool, and 10 AUD for lighting. Stall owners are required to prepare 4 sandbags / weights, and ropes to stabilize the tent, this also applies to the rented tent. Please include the equipment rent fee when you pay the stall fee and email us the equipment you need to rent from us.

Electricity surcharge

Food stalls must use gas or self-provided generator in principle. It is easy to lose power when high-power catering equipment is used at the same time. We will make overall arrangements to avoid power outages. The stall fee includes electricity for lighting.
For stalls with power supply above 1 kW and within 2 kW, a surcharge of 50 AUD is required;
For stalls with power supply above 2 kW and within 4 kW, a surcharge of 100 AUD is required;
In principle, stalls with power supply above 4 kW are not accepted

How to Participate and Apply

Please email organizer at dragoneightevents@gmail.com, along with the required documents. If the public liability insurance, FSS and TFP have already been sent there is no need to resent unless there are changes.

(1) All stalls need to fill in the stall application form and provide company public liability insurance.
(2) Food stalls: Provide Food Safety Supervisor (FSS) certification and Temporary Food Permit (TFP).
(3) Non-food stalls: Submit a complete product list with quality inspection information.
(4) Stall category selection and corresponding payment.

Once approved, the organizer will send a contract.
Reply within three business days and make the stall fee and bond payment to the designated account.

Important Dates Reminder

Application and Payment Deadline: The application and payment deadline is 5 working days before the event date. The night market is scheduled for Saturday, and the application and payment deadline is the Monday night of the same week.
Cancellation Policy: No cancellations after the application deadline, and the BOND will not be refunded for cancellation.
Bond: Once your stall application is approved, please pay a 200 AUD bond to secure your stall. The bond is a one-time payment and can be used in subsequent night markets. If you no longer participate in the night market, please email us to refund the bond.

Street Performance Policy

Council approval is not required for busking or street theatre if the activity according to pages 5 and 6 of the above policy:

• Has been registered with Council (and a temporary permit issued);

• Occurs in a Council designated location (refer to Appendix C for the list/map of allowable locations);

• Is undertaken between the hours of 8.00am and 6.00pm and for a maximum of 2 hours

• Involves the use of handheld equipment only;

• Continues to enable the safe passage of pedestrians and vehicles;

• Continues to enable the amenity of the area; and

• Does not involve:

a) Dangerous implements, materials or animals; or

b) Drawing, marking or affixing anything to the footway; or

c) The use of a public address, sound system or amplification; or

d) Solicitation of funds (however performers may receive voluntary donations); or

e) Advertisement or promotion of goods for sale, other than products consisting of the artist’s own work; or

f) Set up, operate or use a loudspeaker or amplifying device on community land (D5).

Hurstville Night Market Stall and Performance

On March 25, 2024, Georges River City Council approved Councillor Ben Wang's motion for Hurstville Night Market. The council will now begin planning and preparing for the night market activities, taking various specific measures to fully support businesses in revitalising the economy of the Georges River area.

Motions to support businesses within the Centres of Georges River Council by Councillor Wang:

1. Information sessions and information packages for small businesses on the planning and complying development process.

2. Information packages on shop front designs that enhance street appeal and promote activation.

3. Explore reviewing planning controls as they apply to the changes of use to existing premises with the aim of simplifying the process and reducing determination times.

4. Reviewing the Street Performance Policy and Busking permit to promote street performances, thereby stimulating the night economy.

5. Enhancing Hurstville Plaza to become a cultural, entertainment, and economic hub by improving lighting, shade, and hosting more regular food market events.

6. Investigating options to improve facilities and processes at Hurstville War Memorial and Hurstville Interchange Park to further stimulate the night economy.

7. Investigating the introduction of day-time events similar to the Lions Festival which used to take place in Oatley.

8. Collaborating with Transport for NSW to explore increasing bus services to centres.

9. Ensuring follow-up on the action plan outlined in the Night-Time Economy Report 2021, with regular updates provided to Council.

10. Establishing partnerships between the council and private investors, business chamber, local community organisations, and Economic Leadership Group to facilitate the development of night-time economy initiatives.
